The
Department of International Cooperation and Training (DICT) was founded
in November 2002. It is a special branch in charge of the development
of international education cooperation program. DICT, aiming to be
"elite, distinctive, and localized," emphasizes international
cooperation, especially that between outstanding institutes and universities.
It aims to learn from world-class universities their experiences in
school administration and to conform to international standards while
developing its own style, so as to increase its overall strength.
DICT is composed of four centers: Center for International Engineering
Master's Degree Education and Communication, Center for Tourism Management,
Center for International Innovation Administration and Center for
Studying Abrod Project. DICT develops international cooperative education
programs in the fields such as business, management, law, language
and culture, art, and engineering technology. To date, it has cooperated
with many world-class institutes and universities in the U.S., U.K.,
France, Sweden, and Australia, providing a series of diploma and degree
education programs, and non-diploma and non-degree courses at both
undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Flexibility and practicality
are the chief characteristics of DICT's cooperation model. Based on
discussions about the curriculum with their counterparts, the department
takes the responsibility of recruiting students and undertakes at
least half of the teaching load, which eliminates the time and cost
of enrolling in schools overseas. DICT provides a new means for studying
abroad, and promotes the process of China's globalization.
