Since its founding, the Center for IT Education & Training
(CITET) has fully employed Tsinghua University's advantages and
rich sources in IT education and training. Working together with
outstanding educational partners from both in China and abroad,
aiming to meet the various demands of multi-level students, CITET
has developed three series of programs for the fostering of IT personnel,
such as the cooperation project on IT Education among institutes,
the Tsinghua IT certification authorization training, advanced seminars,
and postgraduate core-course refresher classes.
"IT Education Cooperative Project Among Institutes" involves
the tasks of cooperating with colleges run by local people, and constructing
educational systems and programs for certificate examination and instructor
training. Its goal is to foster qualified IT workers by offering students
a wide range of practical, professional knowledge as well as employment
opportunities through various channels of learning: Tsinghua University
IT engineer certification training, the B.A. degree-completion programs
of Tsinghua University Distance Education, and the master's degree
diploma distance education program in computer science.
 "Project
of Tsinghua IT Certification Authorization Training" was jointly
developed by the experts of Tsinghua University, of IT enterprises
and of the relevant national branches in the field. The project was
formed on the basis of extensive research, analysis and the study
of domestic and foreign IT certification training systems. It combines
knowledge, skill and practical application from perspectives of basic
theory, applied technology and engineering application. Upon such
solid foundation, a comprehensive training/certification curriculum
system is established for in-service IT workers and standards for
software engineers training/certification system are set up. This
IT training/certification system, focusing on vocational technology
training, adding more hands-on practice and taking strict evaluating
standard, is continually updated to keep apace with the rapid development
of IT technology. This project unquestionably makes a valuable contribution
to the development of degree-oriented education in China.
The “Advanced Seminar and Postgraduate Core Course Refresher Class”
offers courses in the currently hot fields and develops the training
programs jointly with well-known foreign universities and research
institutes, adopting the model of international exchange and communication.
Furthermore, the training program may be specifically designed according
to the needs of the employers.
